Care

bee clean.

Standard Diaper Care { to be used after new diaper has been prepped. More info on prepping guidelines can be found in our Cloth 101. The prepping step for your new cloth diaper is a very important step!}

  • Shake solids into toilet
  • If needed spray any remaining off with diaper sprayer
  • Remove pocket inserts
  • Place diaper in dry pail with pail liner, large wetbag or alternately you could use a kitchen size trash can with a pail liner.
  • Once you are ready to wash start with a cold prewash or just a short cold wash {this is to remove any remaining solids and prevent staining}{If you are using a front loading washer choose delicate cycle to allow washer to add the most amount of water possible}
  • Follow with wash using hot cycle {water temp. can not exceed 122 degrees F or 50 degrees C} and recommended detergent{Do not use too much detergent. Excess detergent can cause diapers to leak, stink and cause rashes.}
  • Finish with a double rinse on cold
  • Tumble on low or hang dry. DO NOT USE FABRIC SOFTENER ON DIAPERS. The use of dryer balls is highly recommended. {Especially for use with our bamboo diapers}
  • If you have stains, place diapers in direct sunlight. This will help naturally bleach out the stain.

FAQS

  • How do I prep my new Bee Changed Diapers? Visit our Getting Started Section under Cloth 101 for more info
  • How do I get a good fit with Bee Changed Diapers? Visit our Getting Started Section under Cloth 101 for more info
  • Do I need to soak my diapers? No. Knock solids into toilet and put the diaper in a pail or wetbag and wait until wash day. We do not recommend leaving diapers unwashed longer than 3 days.
  • Why can’t I use my regular detergent or other ‘natural detergents’? The additives in detergents that are not clearly cloth diaper approved do not rinse out of diapers and build up over time. With the buildup, diapers will lose their absorbency and begin to leak. Protect your investment by following recommended guidelines.
  • What can I do to get the ammonia smell out of my diapers? Ammonia is a buildup of salt from urine. We recommend Rockin’ Green’s Funk Rock to fix the problem.
  • Why do my diapers stink even though they are clean? 1. You may not be using enough detergent 2. You may be using too much detergent. To find out which, put diapers in a hot wash cycle with no detergent and if you see bubbles, you are using too much detergent. If there are no bubbles you are not using enough detergent.
